The Book That Shifted My Mind—and My Life

What if the difference between the life you have and the life you want lies inside a single idea you have been ignoring?

This question stayed with me for years, and it took one book and one mentor to show me how powerful an idea can become when given the right attention.

A simple book can transform your entire direction, provided you take its lessons seriously and apply them with intention. I experienced this shift firsthand during Bob Proctor’s Mindset Shift sessions. He drew heavily from the timeless principles of Think and Grow Rich, a book that has shaped millions of lives. The lesson that anchored itself in me was simple yet deeply transformative: an idea becomes powerful only when it turns into a desire.

Ideas pass through our minds constantly. They spark curiosity, create excitement, or disappear before we even recognise their value. True change happens when an idea moves beyond inspiration and becomes a desire strong enough to influence behaviour. Bob often said, “If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.” That message helped me understand that dreaming is only the starting point; the real shift begins when emotion fuels action.

Many assume Think and Grow Rich focuses only on financial wealth. The book actually teaches richness across all areas—mindset, relationships, learning, discipline, and personal character. When your thinking expands, every part of your life rises with it.

One principle that changed the way I approach growth is the concept of the Mastermind group. Surrounding yourself with people who think boldly and aim higher elevates your own vision. Energy rises in environments where ambition is normal and growth is expected. This level of influence can speed up transformation in ways we often underestimate.

Bob also explained how the conscious and subconscious mind shape our lives. The conscious mind chooses thoughts, while the subconscious mind absorbs beliefs, forms habits, and directs most of our behaviour. Repetition and emotion are the language of the subconscious. Once a desire settles into that deeper part of the mind, it begins to shape actions and outcomes without resistance.

I remember listening to Bob share how his life changed. His journey did not begin with wealth or opportunity. His transformation started with a decision to turn one idea into a desire that guided his daily behaviour. That decision created the momentum that reshaped his future. His story made me realise how often we treat our dreams casually. We want results, yet we rarely give our goals the emotional commitment they need to grow.

This insight became a turning point for me. When desire becomes the driver, actions align, habits evolve, confidence strengthens, and clarity deepens. Financial growth becomes possible. Relationships become richer. Personal and professional development accelerates. Learning becomes something you look forward to instead of something you endure. Desire becomes the spark behind every meaningful transformation.

My Takeaway from the Book

A book alone does not create change. A workshop alone does not create progress. Inspiration alone does not produce results.

Application produces results.
Consistency sustains them.
Belief strengthens them.
Desire fuels them.

Choose one idea that matters to you.
Turn it into a desire that lives in both your mind and your heart.
Feed it to your subconscious with repetition, emotion, and consistent action.
Place yourself among people who push you to think bigger.

Every new chapter waits on the other side of a single idea.
The shift begins the moment you choose to give that idealife.

Why We Become a Child Again Around Our Mother

They say a mother can take your pain away and make you feel like a child again.  It is true—not just in a poetic sense, but in a very real psychological way. After living with my in-laws for some time, I started to notice something strange whenever I visited my mother. The moment I entered her home, something inside me shifted. My voice softened. I felt lighter. I would leave responsibilities at the door and sit on the floor or curl up on the sofa like I used to. I was not acting strong or trying to be put together—I simply became… myself. A softer, more vulnerable, more peaceful version of who I am. I often found myself wondering,  “Is this really me? Or am I just slipping into some old pattern?” That question stayed with me until I started reading about the neuroscience and psychology behind it. What I learned made everything make sense. The Brain Remembers Safety Our brains are wired to remember emotions. When you are around your mother—especially if she represents love, sa...

When Pain Finds a Voice: A Story That Mirrors the Lives of Many Women

With my client’s full consent—while keeping her identity protected—I am sharing a story that reflects the silent suffering many women carry in their hearts. As I sat listening to her, I realised how deeply emotional distress shapes a woman’s life, and how many endure heartbreaking experiences behind closed doors. No woman should ever face such pain alone, yet her story echoes countless untold stories in our society. What moved me most was the resilience in her voice. She did not speak like someone defeated. She spoke like a woman who will one day look back and recognise the strength it took to speak up, to rise, and to share her truth so that even one other woman may find the courage to change her life. She discovered her husband had been cheating on her, but long before the betrayal surfaced, she had been living under constant criticism and fault-finding. While she devoted herself to raising their three children—building a home filled with warmth, stability, cleanliness, and love—he d...

My Experience in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi

My recent trip to HDh. Kulhudhuffushi for a training and group coaching turned out to be much more than a professional assignment—it became a journey of learning, connection, and cultural discovery. Having lived all my life in the capital city, Malé, I have always been familiar with its fast pace, modern lifestyle, and limited sense of community due to the city’s busy rhythm. Although I used to travel to islands as a child, years passed without such experiences. Now, traveling as a professional—conducting training and coaching sessions—has given a completely new meaning to island visits. Kulhudhuffushi, often called the “heart of the north,” is one of the largest and most vibrant islands in the northern Maldives. It serves as the main hub of Haa Dhaalu Atoll, connecting the surrounding islands through its port and domestic airport. The island is well-developed, with schools, healthcare facilities, shops, and cafés, yet it still carries the charm of island life—peaceful, community-drive...
